I cherish life, in all its imperfection and complexity. Through my lens, I feel emboldened to explore, dig deeper, and make sense of it all. 
 

My pictures are a means to get in touch with my roots, to pin down life-changing moments or to honour people that inspire me.
 

I have two very different ways of working: I stage the picture to the extreme, or I am a fly on the wall, the accidental passer-by. Either way, I immerse myself, trying to get to the ultimate meaning of the object.
 

Like a perfume maker capturing the essential smell from a flower, my photograph is a distillation of a moment in time.
 

As life as I see it is precious and transient, photography offers a touch of immortality, perhaps even glamour. That idea gives me a sense of purpose, consolation and healing.
